LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO— On APRIL 12, 2023 the Las Cruces International Film Festival will open its festival with the New Mexico Made film “Land Of Dreams.” The film is directed by Shoja Azari & Shirin Neshat. It is produced by Sol Tryon, Amir Hamz and Christian Springer. The film stars Isabella Rossellini, Matt Dillon, William Moseley, Sheila Vand, Christopher McDonald and Anna Gunn. The film’s stars, directors and producers are expected to be in attendance.
The film is about a small-town in America, where Simin, an Iranian immigrant, works for the United States Census Bureau which has gone beyond data collection and now explores the dreams of citizens for unknown intentions. Playful and poignant, the film acknowledges the greatness of the American experiment while offering a warning beacon for what could come.
The film screens 7pm April 12th at the Allen Theatres Cineport at the Mesilla Valley Mall. The filmmakers and actors will be on hand to greet the audience and host a Q & A after the screening.
Critics have given the film rave reviews. “It’s a witty and thrilling take on American culture that benefits from its creators’ immigrant experiences and inventive style.” (The Hollywood Reporter) “Stubbornly opaque and infinitely rewarding, Land of Dreams is a case study in how the most surreal imaginaries can very often be the most disturbingly real.” (One Room With A View)

Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Mandalorian”) will be on hand to receive the prestigious Las Cruces International Film Festival “Outstanding Achievement In Entertainment” Award on April 13th.
