LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO— On APRIL 10, 2025 the 10th annual Las Cruces International Film Festival will honor Academy Award and Emmy Award winning actress Helen Hunt with its prestigious “Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment” award. Ms. Hunt will be on hand to accept the award in Las Cruces. Ms. Hunt will screen her iconic Academy Award winning film AS GOOD AS IT GETS at the Allen Theatres Cineport at 7pm and host a question-and-answer session with the audience. In the afternoon, Ms. Hunt will speak at New Mexico State University about her long and esteemed career. That evening at the LCIFF VIP Party at the Allen Theatres Cineport, Ms. Hunt will receive her “Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment” award. Past recipients of the LCIFF celebrated award include Ron Perlman, Giancarlo Esposito, William H Macy, Danny Trejo, Brendan Fraser, George Lopez, Cybill Shepherd, Richard Dreyfuss and Edward James Olmos.
Oscar and Emmy award-winner Helen Hunt has enjoyed a prolific career in Hollywood. She has enjoyed a distinguished career not only as an award-winning actress but as an accomplished writer, director, and producer. As an actress, her extensive and diverse body of work includes roles in film, theater, and television. She won a “Best Actress” Oscar for her role in As Good As It Gets, for which she also won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. For her role as Jamie Buchman in Mad About You, Hunt garnered four Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards (three as lead actress and one as Producer for Best Comedy), and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Her most recent films include I See You and the film, The Night Clerk. She is currently in production on a movie with Dustin Hoffman directed by Peter Greenaway. Hunt’s most recent television roles include Blindspotting, World on Fire and Shots Fired. Additional television credits include the critically acclaimed World on Fire Shots Fired and the HBO Miniseries Empire Falls. In 2014, Helen wrote, directed, produced, and starred in her second feature film Ride, a story about a mother (Hunt) traveling cross-country to California to be with her son (Brenton Thwaites) after he decides to drop out of school and become a surfer. Before that, she directed, co- wrote, produced, and starred in Then She Found Me based on a novel by Elinor Lipman. For television, Hunt recently directed episodes of The Politician, American Housewife, Feud: Bette and Joan; Life in Pieces; and This Is Us. Hunt has also directed Splitting Up Together; For the People; Revenge; House of Lies; Californication; Mad About You and The Paul Reiser Show.

The LCIFF Poster Party will be March 7, 2025, at the Farm & Ranch Museum 6pm-8pm and will feature the 2024 collectible poster as designed by artist Virginia Maria Romero. VIP tickets will be on sale for the discounted price $150 at the poster party only. Admission is $30.
